hi!

Hey! My name is Mackinsey and I currently live in Richmond, Virginia, USA. I’m a bookstagrammer and book blogger who primarily reads contemporary adult fiction, but I will pick up anything that seems like a good read. I love to learn about and uplift marginalized voices, so many of my books are by and/or about BIPOC, queer, and non-western people.

I also love to use my local library and the majority of my books come from libraries. In the United States, where government programs are being privatized for profit at alarming rates, I find the resilience of the library as an institution and those who work for libraries to be an act of resistance.

I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. My parents took me to the library near my childhood home at least once weekly. I remember checking out a stack of picture books, and finishing at least half of them in my dad’s truck on the way home. After a few weeks of the same routine, my dad “graduated” me to chapter books in an attempt to prevent me from reading so quickly.

As an adult, I still maintain a rather fast reading pace. I love books in all forms – physical, e-books, and audiobooks. Reading is an opportunity to learn and a powerful means of escapism.

In this blog, you’ll find mostly book-related content: book reviews, book lists, and challenges. While I’m not a professional reviewer, I will always give my honest opinion and be transparent about any bias I may have.

I’m also chronically online a fan of social media. Feel free to follow me!
